Hi there,

I’m Chris…

It’s an honour to represent the people of Stockton, Billingham and Norton in Parliament, and to work every day to bring jobs, opportunity and investment to our communities.

Before entering politics, I spent 20 years in the steel industry - starting as a sponsored engineer and going on to lead a business developing green technologies and creating skilled jobs. I’ve seen first-hand the power of education and enterprise to change lives and strengthen communities.

I come from a working-class background and I understand the pressures families face when they’re working hard but still struggling to get by. That’s why I’m focused on delivering real results - good jobs, excellent local schools, and investment in our NHS and public services.

As your MP, I regularly work with local businesses, schools and community groups across Stockton, Billingham and Norton, while also standing up for our area in Westminster. Whether it’s championing our industries, pushing for better infrastructure, or fighting for safer streets, I’m committed to securing a fairer, more prosperous future for our communities.

Stockton North First

  • Everyone deserves to feel safe where they live - whether it’s walking through the town centre, catching the bus, or locking up a shop at the end of the day.

That’s why I’ve helped secure new dedicated police officers for Stockton town centre, seven days a week. I’ve also supported the Government’s rollout of named neighbourhood officers in every community - giving people a direct link to their local police team.

We’ll go further: Labour are recruiting 13,000 additional police and PCSOs, restoring town centre patrols, and bringing in tougher penalties for offenders.

Fly-tipping, antisocial behaviour and organised crime have no place in our communities. I’ll keep working with the Police and Crime Commissioner and local residents to ensure our streets are safer and your voices are heard.

  • I’m using my 20 years in the steel industry to bring investment, jobs and skills to Stockton, Billingham and Norton - not just for today, but for the long term.

Our new Government is already delivering:

    • £4bn Net Zero Teesside project - now under way, bringing industrial carbon capture and skilled jobs to Teesside

    • £300m Hitachi contract - safeguarding train manufacturing jobs vital to our local economy

    • Expansion in health and life sciences - with Stockton becoming a centre of innovation for medicines and diagnostics

Our area built the modern world, from bridges to vaccines - and we’ll do it again. Labour will lead the Green Industrial Revolution, and I’ll make sure Teesside is at the heart of it.

  • Our NHS has been broken by 14 years of Conservative neglect. People in Stockton North are waiting longer than ever for treatment, and access to NHS dentists has collapsed.

In Parliament, I’ve raised Stockton’s status as a ‘dental desert’ and helped deliver:

    • Over 5,000 new dental appointments in our area

    • A new Urgent Dental Access Centre being built in our area

    • One of the UK’s new diagnostic centres on Stockton High Street - improving early access to scans and treatment

Labour are bringing back the family doctor, cutting NHS waiting times with two million extra hospital appointments, and delivering 700,000 more dental appointments every year.

Your health shouldn’t depend on your postcode - and I’ll keep fighting to put that right.

  • One in twenty people in Stockton North has served in our armed forces - and I’m determined that we repay that service with proper support.

I’ve spoken in Parliament to highlight the value veterans bring to our economy and society - and I’ll keep pushing for:

    • Specialist mental health support

    • Employment and skills pathways

    • Guaranteed housing access for ex-service personnel

Locally, I’ve visited care homes like The Beeches, which is now accredited as Veteran Friendly. It's the first in a wider programme of visits and support for local veteran services.

Our armed forces stand up for us. It's time we stood up for them.

  • Britain deserves an immigration system that is firm, fair and properly managed - one that protects our borders, prevents exploitation, and ensures those who come here contribute to our society.

After years of Conservative failure, trust in the system has broken down. Illegal crossings have hit record levels, while thousands of visa applications, including for skilled workers our economy needs - are stuck in backlog.

Labour will introduce a new Border Security Command - with new powers, stronger enforcement, and greater international cooperation to tackle people-smuggling gangs.

We’ll end hotel use by speeding up asylum decisions and clear the backlog with proper casework teams.

Locally, I’ll always speak up for a system that works for Teesside - one that protects our communities, supports integration, and restores public confidence.
